Tela--The REAL Rain of Fear --Dec 7, 2015

Ben, Elder Nunez, and Elder Kelly

We had our "8 Weeks" meeting this week. I got to see Elder Nunez--he is training someone new, so I got to see him again.  That was great.  Now I have a dad, a step dad, and a step brother!  The meeting was really cool and we ate pizza from Pizza Hut.  I met my step bro--Elder Kelly.  He's from the Provo MTC and already knows Spanish.
NUNEZ!!
Another interesting thing that happened was it rained like CRAZY here.  I thought I had experienced the Rain of Fear, but I was wrong.  This was way worse!  It flooded a lot of houses and all the streets, so we took a couple hour break from proselyting--no one wanted to talk to us because they needed to fix their houses.  It was raining hard enough, it probably rained a foot in 6 hours.  And it rained all day and night.  The city has a good drain system, but there's parts where we waded through 8 inches of water.  Once you're wet, you stop caring.

We also found an investigator who was super interested in the church.  She both read the pamphlet we gave her and has questions, and both of those things are super rare here.  The only problem is she lives suuppeer far away, and works as a maid in a house 6 days a week, so it's tough to set up appointments.
My messy table--it's not usually that bad!
I totally forgot about the presents for Dec 1!  Oh no!  I really get sucked into the work, sometimes all I can think about is how the lessons went and how to teach the next one.  I try not to think about my family too much (sorry you guys!) but it's easier to focus.  I'll open them tonight!  I'm sooo excited!
That's all that happened this week, not super exciting, but good. It's funny, we fasted this last Sunday and I've never been offered food like I was yesterday.  Every person we met had some food or drink to give us.  To bad about the fast!  But it's always worth it!!

Lovin' my Honduran flag!

We watched the Christmas devotional in the church.  It was awesome, but in Spanish, so kinda difficult, but the music was GREAT.

RANDOM STUFF:
We have a house right now.  It's big, which is nice, but hard to clean.

The laundry isn't too bad, I try to be careful with the clothes, but it takes time, which is too bad.  The clothes get clean for the most part, and I bought bleach for my shirts.

Cooking has been fun.  Mostly easy stuff like jello or pancakes, but we eat other stuff like pasta sometimes.  We buy a ton of baleadas.

We live in Buenas Aires, in Tela.  The national forest is called Lance-something.  I think it's Lancetilla.

We email the president every week.  He has emailed back 2 or 3 times, and always just a sentence or two.

I rode in a car once with the Webb's, the couple missionary.  That was awesome.

Everyone is getting ready for Christmas.  We don't have any decorations, and since we don't spend much time in the house, I don't think we will.  But everyone has Christmas lights and trees.  It's a lot like Christmas in the States, but with more religious emphasis.

I can't wait for  the Skype!  I want to hear about you guys a ton too.  Questions are fun to answer because I love being able to explain Honduras.  It so different I can't explain it all because it's all just normal to me now.  It's like trying to describe every aspect and action of my everyday life, so I forget stuff.

I bought nice leather Spanish scriptures, and I obviously have tons of cheap ones to give away.

Leather scripture case I bought at the CCM

My dryer

Backpack I bought--Seahawk colors!

My ankle got attacked by mosquitos in the night.  It itches like crazy!
Most of the bites morphed together into a super-itch-bump-thing.
