Halfway to Honduras--Sept 22, 2015

This week went by soooo fast.  It's been crazy.  I can't believe we are halfway through our time here at the CCM.  All the days are just blurring together.  I think I will fly to El Salvador and from there to San Pedro.  No sisters.  Just about 8 of us.  Since the Latinos here rotate out every 2 weeks, the next group will probably have some going to SPSE so they will leave with us.

The last week has been pretty intense.  I'm learning tons.  Me and my companion have been teaching our investigators every day, for 20 minutes.  It's awesome that when I'm speaking Spanish it forces me to use very simple sentences and thoughts, but the Spirit works with that and makes the lesson so profound.  The president told me the other day, how easy would it be if we had Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ with us in our lessons, but we do have the Holy Ghost, and he's also a member of the Godhead.  If you think about how close he is to Christ and God, it's absolutely incredible to have him.

My companion is the funnest kid I've ever met.  He was soooooo quiet when we first got here, and he has to warm up to you before he will talk, but it's worth it!  Yesterday we were all talking about high school and he said he was in a wheelchair most of high school.  It got silent and someone said, That's terrible, why?  He said he wanted a wheelchair for Christmas because they're fun and he got one and wheeled around in it!  WHAT??!!

This morning, an elder from our district went home.  He was so incredible and inspiring.  Before he left we gave him a blessing of comfort, then he shared his testimony and we sang God be with you till we meet again.  He was the closest person to me besides my companion.  We are both going to the same mission.  I can't wait to see him there.  He will be back in 136 days and counting.  I realized halfway through the blessing that him being sent home isn't a step back, it's a step forward, just in a different direction than we are used to.  The Spirit was amazing.

Thanks for all the emails.  I hope you know I really feel the support.  This time at the MTC is just awesome.  On Sundays we usually have 3 or 4 devotionals a day, along with regular church meetings.  We have a devotional every P day and we never have class without the teacher ending the lesson with a spirutal booster.  I love it.  I just wish you guys were here to hear all of it.  I can't wait to get out in the field.  If I can impart just a fraction of the Spirit I feel here, it's going to be a great two years!

[Responses to questions he received:]
From Emmy:  I just have one main question for you--how big are the spiders????
The spiders aren't awful.  You get used to them.  But when we are playing basketball we usually find cockroaches crawling around on the court.  So that's fun.  But I'm used to that too.  I love hearing from you guys and I hope I have enough time to respond to all of these!
From Hannah:  If you ever called me from your mission, I'd be like, dude, it's 6 in the morning (this was a funny puppy meme).
Yeah, things are a little crazy here. Waking up at 6:30 is a huge pain, and the bathrooms and showers here are built for Latinos, so the shower heads are at chest level.  A little inconvenient, but it reminds me that I'm in Guatemala.
From Mom:  How was the Independence Day there?
The day wasn't as bad as the night.  There was a lot of noise and shouting.  I heard that the president is on the run.  [He was recently indicted by the government.]  He's like the 4th president this year to do that and right now there is no president because the people refuse to vote on anyone.  So it was a mini revolution day.  But I didn't hear any guns.  We see ambulances and police cars with sirens drive down the street like 15 times a day.  No one even cares about the sirens anymore.  The new guys just finished their first week.  I think they are adjusting pretty well.  :)

I've heard from Merritt twice now.  It's crazy to me that he's in college!!

I haven't gotten any actual mail, but I think it's on like a 2 week schedule, so I should get it this week.

Thanks for the support, I really feel it.  I love hearing from you guys.  I miss you and I'm so happy to get emails from you.  The emails really motivate me!  I need at least twice as much time as they give me!  One hour is not near enough!  Sorry about the confusing mess of emails, I'm just worried about running out of time.

I love you guys!!
