We sent him with a disposable cell phone to call us from the airports and in case of a missed flight, etc. Luckily everything went perfectly! He called from Salt Lake, just 90 mins after we said goodbye. He had found some dinner and met up with a dozen or so other missionaries all headed to the Guatemala CCM (Spanish for MTC.) They were all together and laughing and talking and it sounded like a pretty fun party!
He called again from LAX and by then they were up to about 25-30 missionaries. He sounded pretty tired at that point. It was 1:00 am and he had a 5 hr flight ahead of him. His phone wouldn't work out of the country, so we knew that would be the last time we talked to him until Christmas.
It was pretty hard letting him walk through those security doors at the airport, but we are so proud of his decision to serve people he doesn't even know, just because he knows the Lord loves them very much.
Boy do we love this elder!!

Yay! Yay! Yay! Loved reading his email (again and again), plus the things about the airport/calling home that I hadn't heard. He's off to change some lives!
