Baptisms and Monkeys!--Feb 8, 2016

We had an awesome day on Friday!  We had divisions, so I was with a member from here named Raul Funes.  We went to Lancetilla, and there I tried 8 different types of fruit, and saw a MONKEY!  I was walking in the jungle and we heard this super weird screaming sound.  Then this monkey showed up in the tree above us, ate some fruit and took off.  I couldn't get a pic in time, but it was awesome!  The monkey was all brown, but with white face and white hair around his face.
It was awesome going with Raul, because it's fun to teach with members and help them learn to teach.  He's working on his mission papers right now, actually.  He also recognized a bunch of trees and would run and climb up and throw down fruit.  I tried licha, mangostin, cacao, guinao, shata, coco, and more stuff I don't remember.  Super fun!

The work is going well.  We had an awesome baptism last week.  A member baptized him, but the investigator couldn't come to church to be confirmed.  Kind of a drag, but he'll come next week.  We have about 8 people progressing, but they just never come to church.  It's annoying that people are sooo willing to listen, and agree that this is the truth, but won't change their lives over it.  WHAT?  But then we always meet some awesome person and it makes up for it.

I study both the English and Spanish Preach My Gospel.  I read the Spanish more, but if I'm reading for a specific reason, like to know exactly what the prophets said, I'll read in English.  It's cool to see an English and Spanish version of the same thing and me using both.  :)

I've been hearing a little about the Zika virus, but no one's freaking out about it.  It's actually a little more mellow than dengue or chikungunya, so I'm not worried about it.

It's been great teaching the people here.  I love seeing the gospel change people.  It really is incredible that we have this gospel.  Life is pretty different without it.  President Klein gave an awesome quote when he came to sacrament meeting, "It's hard to be a member, but it's harder to not be.  You know what else is hard?  Working...it's not easy, but you know what's harder?  Not having work."
